Martha Turner Reilly Biography

History of Martha Turner Reilly School


Martha Turner Reilly was born on March 12, 1866 in Mississippi. She moved to Texas and married William Madison Reilly. They had three children Wallace, Ruth and Marie.


Mrs Reilly was a very active worker in study and cultural clubs throughout her life. She was member of the state as well as local Parent Teacher Association along with other clubs. She worked in drivers such as Boys membership in Y.M.C.A. and others.


This pioneer Texas woman was the President of the Congress of Mothers Clubs at Colonial School, when in 1906, she founded the organization that was the forerunner of the Parent Teacher Association in Dallas.


The school was dedicated Sunday, March 12, 1956, the anniversary of Mrs Reilly's birth.
